Viennese beer cellar

Victorian illustration to download showing a Viennese beer cellar. Barmen and barmaids serve beer from a circular bar, where huge beer barrels stand. The barmaids are neatly dressed in high-necked blouses and boleros. Men and women stand round the bar or sit at tables drinking and talking. One waiter collects beer mugs from the bar, another clears mugs from a table. A worker in shirtsleeves washes mugs in a sink attached to the bar. This scene was sketched in the Viennese beer cellar set up for the Paris International Exhibition of 1867.
