Tower Subway

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of a man walking through the Tower Subway, a tunnel beneath the Thames built in 1869. At first a cable-hauled railway carried people through, and in 1871 it became solely for pedestrian use. It closed to the public in 1898, and today is used for water mains.
