The artist Landseer’s studio

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of the artist Sir Edwin Landseer (1802-73) painting in his studio. Landseer was renowned for his paintings of dogs and wild life, and for the lions in Trafalgar Square. In this picture Landseer is working on ‘The Monarch of the Glen’ (actually painted in 1851), and also in the studio are his painting of a Newfoundland dog, ‘A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society’ (1838), and ‘Flood in the Highlands’ (1864).
