Reading room in a Rowton House

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of men relaxing in the reading room in one of the Rowton Houses, hostels providing decent accommodation for working men. This was a charity set up by the philanthropist Lord Rowton; 6 hostels were built in London between 1892 and 1905, and similar houses were built in Liverpool, Birmingham and in Europe.
