Railway disaster, Thorpe 1874: rescuing casualties

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of the railway disaster at Thorpe, Norfolk in 1874. Rescuers are carrying casualties from a jumbled mass of crushed carriages and trying to clear the wreckage. After two trains collided head-on, the driver and fireman of both locomotives were killed along with 22 passengers. Many passengers were severely injured.
