Paddle steamer and Wolf Rock lighthouse

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of a small paddle steamer putting keepers on the rock at the Wolf Rock lighthouse in rough seas. A dinghy with keepers aboard is guided from the steamer with ropes. Building of the Wolf Rock lighthouse, designed by James Walker, took place between 1861 and 1869. Wolf Rock, named for the howling noise of the wind in the rock’s fissures, lies 8 nautical miles off Lands End, Cornwall.
