A crowd of men, women and children listen. This bandstand stood in the Surrey Zoological Gardens (near the Oval in Kennington), managed by the impresario Edward Cross, where the amusements included animals in cages inside a huge conservatory, firework displays, and promenade concerts. The gardens closed in 1862.
