Open-air charity meeting

Victorian illustration to download showing the Working Men’s Hospital Saturday, an open-air meeting in Hyde Park in aid of London’s hospitals and dispensaries. A large crowd, some holding banners, listens to a man speaking from a platform. Boys with collection boxes ask for donations, and a member of the brass band holds his tuba. This meeting, held in 1874 and organised by trade, temperance and charitable societies, was attended by about 20,000 people.
