Mountain climbing: Mont Blanc

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of a party climbing Mont Blanc amid spectacular mountain scenery. They cross a crevasse in a glacier using a ladder and rope. This picture was part of Albert Smith’s highly successful entertainment ‘Mont Blanc’ telling the story of his ascent in 1851; the show ran for 6 years and helped popularise mountain climbing. Smith was one of the founder members of the Alpine Club, 1857.
