Victorian illustration to download showing housing for coalminers, a terrace of 10 single-storey small houses and small cottages behind. Women and children gather to talk. This is Nitshill, now part of the city of Glasgow, where the miners were employed at the Victoria mine owned by the Coats thread manufacturers of Paisley. In 1851 there was an explosion at the mine; 61 men and boys died in the disaster.
