Highwayman (Claude Duval)

Victorian picture showing the highwayman Claude Duval (1643-1670) and his companions robbing a coach. The story goes that Duval agreed not to take all the husband’s money if the wife danced with him, and we see Duval and a woman dancing while her captive husband looks on. Inside the coach lies a fainting woman, and the other highwaymen search for loot.
