Coronation Chair

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of the Coronation Chair, which dates from the 13th century and stands in Westminster Abbey. Kings and queens of the United Kingdom are crowned while sitting on this chair. Made  of oak carved in the Gothic style, it is supported by four carved lions; beneath the seat, visible through quatrefoil openings, is the Coronation Stone, or Stone of Scone, said to be the stone on which Jacob rested his head at Bethel (Genesis Chapter 28).
