Boy saves baby from drowning

Victorian picture to download illustrating ‘Osborne’s leap’: in 1559 the young apprentice Osborne leapt from London Bridge to save the Lord Mayor’s daughter Anne from drowning in the River Thames. Later, when she was a rich heiress with many suitors, her father said:’Osborne saved her, and Osborne shall have her.’ Osborne became Lord Mayor in 1583.
