Andes mountains porter, Ecuador

Victorian illustration to download showing a picture of a mountain porter from the Andes mountains in Ecuador. On his back is a rack made of wood and rope which is fixed by a strap round his head. His trousers are rolled up to show well-muscled legs. He has a walking stick. This is one of the porters who assisted the pioneering mountaineer Edward Whymper (1840-1911) at the first ascent of Chimborazo, 1880.
